Tehran, IRNA – The Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra has performed original edition of “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” in Persian in Croatia.
Some 80 musicians of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra chanted Thus Spoke Zarathustra for the first time in Persian language Friday night.
The original edition of Thus Spoke Zarathustra has been performed under leadership of Ali Rahbari, an Iranian composer, in a place far from Iran.
The concert was held simultaneous with 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relationship between Croatia and Iran as well as 150th anniversary of formation of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra. The venue of the concert was at Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb city, capital of Croatia.
Symphonic poem of Thus Spoke Zarathustra consists of six parts, which is the first symphonic poem in the world that has its roots in Zarathustra’s exact words. The symphonic poem has been created for tenor of the choir and the Great Symphony Orchestra.
Thus Spoke Zarathustra is a tone poem by Richard Strauss, composed in 1896 and inspired by Great German Philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche’s philosophical 1883–1885 novel Thus Spoke Zarathustra. The German composer conducted its first performance in Frankfurt on 27 November 1896, which was a typical performance that lasted half an hour.
The 65-minute-long concert led by Ali Rahbari in Zagreb is considered the first Persian language edition of piece outside Iran.
Rahbari have also led the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra in different cities such as Brussels, Prague, and Malaga for several years.
The Iranian composer dedicated the great work to people of Croatia, who believe that they have their roots in ancient Iran.
Reza Fekri, singer of the Persian edition of piece, has cooperated with Ali Rahbari for the last seven years.
Cultural and artistic advisors to Croatian president as well as diplomats residing in Zagreb participated in the Friday concert.
