Magnitude 5.7 earthquake hits southern Iranian port city

Qeshm, IRNA – An earthquake measuring 5.8 magnitude on the Richter scale hit an area near the Persian Gulf port city of Khamir, southern Iran, on Saturday night.

The quake happened at 20:39 pm local time, jolting the area near Khamir Port located between Qeshm Island and the city of Hormuzgan.

According to the Tehran University Seismological Center, the quake occurred at the depth of 9 kilometer.

There have been no reports of damage and casualties as of yet.
