Majlis speaker: Iran for peaceful nuclear energy
Tehran, Aug 4, Majlis (Parliament) speaker Ali Larijani said nuclear weapon is harmful for all countries and Iran is defending peaceful nuclear energy.
Larijani made the remarks Friday in a meeting with President of North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly Kim Yong-nam.
Chaos in the world will benefit no country and establishing peace and international security is the most important achievements of all governments, he said.
He appreciated North Korea resistance against US bullying and expressed hope for maintaining peace and security in the world.
Kim Yong-nam said North Korea supports Iran's stance as on manufacturing and firing missiles.
North Korea aims at bolstering international ties and also the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) since these relations are beneficial for both sides, he said.
We want peace, but we will not retreat from the interests of our country, he added.
Kim Yong-nam is in Tehran to take part in President Hassan Rouhani's inauguration ceremony which will be held on August 5 in Tehran.
Eight presidents, 19 parliament speakers, nine vice presidents and prime ministers, seven parliament vice-speakers, 11 foreign ministers and 35 special envoys from different countries will reportedly attend the ceremony.
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei endorsed Rouhani's presidential decree in a ceremony on Thursday.
Rouhani was reelected as president for a second consecutive term in national elections on May 19, securing nearly 57% of the total votes cast.
