Malaysian former PM acquitted of four corruption charges – Court

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin was acquitted by the high court of four corruption charges on Tuesday.

The high court ruled in favor of his application to overturn four charges of abusing his power to obtain 232.5 million ringgit (USD 50 million) in bribes for his Bersatu party.

On April 18, Yassin, who served as prime minister of Malaysia from March 2020 to August 2021, submitted a request to acquit him of all four charges brought against him on March 10, saying that all four charges were defective and were not in accordance with the law.
