Tehran, IRNA – Shidvar or Maru Island is located in western Hormozgan province in southern Iran, which attracts numerous tourists each year despite the fact that the island does not have proper accommodation for tourists.

Even visualization of walking on an uninhabited island will be exciting and far-fetched. The unoccupied island looks like a place where all things are similar to the day Adam and Eve found themselves on earth.
People name the island Iran’s Maldives because waves are calm, the sea is fully clear and there are white sands all around.
The abundance of a small poisonous snake is the reason that the island’s alternative name is Maru (Snake Island).
Uncontrolled egg collection by some people was a serious problem in the 1970s. Iran’s Department of the Environment has stationed personnel on the Maru Island during the breeding season.
The Shidvar (Maru) Island forms part of the Lavan Rural District in Kish District of Bandar Lengeh County.
The small sandy and rocky offshore islands are surrounded by coral reefs in the north-central Persian Gulf.
The Maru Island is important for breeding turtles and some species of waterbirds.
The flat part in vegetated sand dunes of the island is densely dressed with halophytic shrubs.
To start Underwater diving tourists do not need to swim far from the beach, because a few meters away they are in the deep sea.
People are advised to bring with equipment needed to experience secure adventurism on the island.
