The Mayor of Baghdad, Ammar Musa Kazem, participated in the work of the regional forum ‘The Impact of Heritage Cities on Community Culture – in the City of Salt as an Example,’ which is organized by the Cultural Action Group for Arab Cities in cooperation with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization / ISESCO / in the Jordanian city of Salt on the 18th and 19th of this month of July.
A statement by the Baghdad Municipality stated that ‘the Mayor of Baghdad confirmed in the presentation that included the forum’s activities’ that the Baghdad Municipality paid great attention to the Baghdad Historical Center with its heritage character. It has completed important stages of developing Al-Mutanabbi Alley, the Saray Axis, and a number of heritage houses represented by the House of the Poet Al-Jawahiri, the House of Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Waeli, and other houses that work is underway to transform into cultural heritage centers.
The Mayor of Baghdad stressed the importance of proceeding with
the reconstruction project for the historic center of Baghdad, to include Al-Rashid Street, the heritage icon of Baghdad, and specifically to the area extending from Al-Midan Square to the poet Marouf Al-Rusafi Square.
The Mayor of Baghdad pointed to the Prime Minister’s unlimited support in harnessing service efforts to improve the capital’s areas, represented by launching a package of projects in the holy regions of Adhamiya and Kadhimiya due to their historical, heritage and religious importance.
The statement confirmed that “the presentation concluded with the presentation of a film that included the most important service works that reflected the urban development of Baghdad’s heritage and cultural center, represented by Al-Mutanabbi Alley, the Saray Axis, and the opening of heritage houses after their reconstruction and rehabilitation.”

on of the attendees, and the participants in the forum praised the service steps of the Municipality of Baghdad and its service file, which will not be devoid of similar works extending to every inch of the land of the capital, Baghdad.
