Media a bridge of friendship between Iran, Pakistan: Iran CG

Islamabad, IRNA — The consul general of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Pakistan’s Karachi says media of the two countries can play a very important role in strengthening relations and developing mutual cooperation.

Hassan Nourian said this during a meeting with the members of the Pakistan Print and Electronic Media Foundation at the consulate.

He also added that the opening of the international border crossing point Mand-Pishin would facilitate pedestrian movement and enhanced bilateral trade between people to people contacts.

Nourian said that the ways and means to strengthen close bilateral relations, rooted in shares history, culture, faith and language and expanding mutual benefits of trade, investment, connectivity, and border management for mutual economic development.

Iran is ready to export petrochemical products to Pakistan in return for rice, meat, and other agricultural products in a barter trade arrangement.

While discussing rising Islamophobia, he appreciated convergence of between Pakistan and Iran to show a common resolve against xenophobia, intolerance, and incitement to violence on the basis of religion or belief.

During the meeting the consul general said that the role of media is a bridge between the development and stability of countries. The media has a huge role to play in strengthening the culture of nations and their relations and highlights the social personality.

Pakistani journalists added that the necessary grounds should be provided for the nations of Iran and Pakistan to know each other in a better way and to explain the achievements of the two countries in various fields.

The Iranian ambassador to Pakistan in a meeting with the staff of Pakistan National Television (PTV) in late August this year, including the CEO, news secretary, presenter and senior reporters of the network, called for the development of public relations between the two neighboring countries to achieve common goals.

While emphasizing the importance of the Iranian and Pakistani media, he said, “We must reflect our real attractions, capabilities and image to each other’s people.”
