Minister of Housing Discusses the Position of Joint Projects with Chinese Contracting Companies


Dr. Assem Al-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, met with Mr. Zhang Tao, Acting Chinese Ambassador to Cairo, to discuss the position of joint projects between the Ministry of Housing and Chinese contracting companies, concerning the areas of urban development, in the presence of Dr. Abdel Khaleq Ibrahim, Assistant Minister of Housing for Technical Affairs, and the Ambassador. Hassan Al-Laithi, Advisor to the Ministry of Housing for International Cooperation.

Dr. Assem Al-Gazzar began the meeting by welcoming Mr. Zhang Tao, stressing the strength and depth of Egyptian-Chinese relations in various fields, and the Egyptian state’s keenness to cooperate with major Chinese contracting companies in implementing national projects, most notably the Central Business District project in the New Administrative Capital, which is implemented in cooperation with the Chinese company “CSCEC”.

The Minister explained that during the meeting, the executive position of the Central Business District pr
oject in the New Administrative Capital was discussed, and the timetables set for the initial delivery of the towers, as well as a review of the position of the ‘Downtown’ towers project in New Alamein City, which are being implemented in cooperation between the Ministry of Housing and the Chinese company ‘CSCEC’.

For his part, Mr. Zhang Tao, Acting Chinese Ambassador to Cairo, stressed the keenness of the Chinese political leadership to strengthen joint cooperation with Egypt, especially economic relations, and the implementation of joint projects between the Egyptian state and Chinese companies, expressing his happiness at the visit made by the Minister of Housing and the accompanying delegation. He recently traveled to China to learn about the latest systems for managing and operating central business districts.
