Minister of Industry Honors ‘Saudi One’ Robotics Programming Team


Riyadh: Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef has recently met with the “Saudi One” university student team, which specializes in robotics programming. The team received recognition for its excellent performance in the VEXAI Robotics Competition held in the United States. Minister Alkhorayef’s support for young, innovative talents in industrial and engineering fields, particularly in the applications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, was evident during the meeting.

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources organized a reception and honoring ceremony for the team at the ministry’s headquarters. The event was attended by Vice Minister for Mining Affairs Eng. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer and Assistant for Planning and Development Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al-Ahmari. The gathering celebrated the team’s achievement of fifth place in the global robotics championship, where they competed with teams from 60 countries. The team also received the Energy Award at the same champions
hip.

The ministry’s strategy is to promote innovation and creativity in industrial sectors and encourage the use of Fourth Industrial Revolution applications, such as the Internet of Things and robotics, in industrial facilities. The aim is to empower young national talents in these specialized fields within the industrial sector, thereby ensuring its sustainability and enhancing its competitiveness.

The Future Factories Program, implemented by the ministry, seeks to adopt the latest innovative technologies, including robotics, for Saudi factories. The goal is to reduce production costs and improve their competitiveness and operational efficiency based on the best global practices.
