NCVC Signs MoU with ROSHN Group to Drive Sustainable Environmental Development, Increase Vegetation Cover


The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) said today in a press release that it has formalized a strategic partnership with ROSHN Group by signing a memorandum of understanding to drive sustainable environmental development and expand green spaces in the Kingdom.

The agreement underscores the parties’ commitment to supporting national efforts to increase the vegetation cover, combat desertification, and contribute to the broader goal of improving the quality of life.

The memorandum outlines a framework for close collaboration in preserving ecosystems and protecting vegetation. It also focuses on broadening afforestation and expanding green areas, in line with national environmental objectives.

The agreement prioritizes promoting community engagement, fostering its participation in environmental initiatives, and launching programs to increase the vegetation cover in various regions.

The agreement also focuses on exchange of information, data, and expertise, w
hich will help meet the goals of increasing the vegetation cover and of fostering community engagement in related programs and initiatives.

The memorandum also entails collaborating to participate in local and international conferences and events where the two parties will present their joint achievements concerning increasing the vegetation cover.

The two parties will work together to conduct awareness campaigns and interactive exhibitions at their sites, to educate the public on the importance of environmental sustainability.

This strategic partnership aligns with NCVC’s broader mission of engaging with government entities, private sector organizations, and non-profit institutions to promote a sustainable expansion of the vegetation cover.

These efforts are central to the Kingdom’s efforts to rehabilitate degraded lands, combat desertification, prevent sand encroachment, and conserve natural resources.

NCVC said it remains dedicated to its mandate of protecting and rehabilitating the vegetation cover,
monitoring threats, preventing illegal activities such as tree cutting, overseeing the management of rangeland, conserving forests, and using national parks sustainably.

Through its initiatives, NCVC plays a crucial role in combating climate change, reducing carbon emissions, and promoting sustainable environmental and economic growth, consistent with the Saudi Green Initiative.
