Official: Chabahar Free Zone ready to host Indian private sector office for trade

Tehran, IRNA – An official at the Chabahar Free Zone Department on Thursday said that India’s private sector can now open its office for trade in Chabahar, southern Iran, following talks held in this regard.

Nasrollah Ebrahimi, the official in charge of the Chabahar Free Zone Department, told IRNA that senior Iranian foreign ministry officials have held the talks with Indian officials during their recent trip to India.

Ebrahimi added that the Chabahar Free Zone is now ready to host an Indian private sector office for trade, following required coordination with the Iranian foreign ministry.

The official said that the Chabahar Free Zone will turn into a number one transit route for countries once its transport and energy infrastructures are completed.

Even with the current capabilities, some 10 million tons of goods can ben transited via the Chabahar Free Zone per year, he added.
