OIC Media Observatory Reports Surge in Israeli Violations Against Palestinians

The Media Observatory of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has released its weekly report, documenting a sharp increase in Israeli crimes and violations against Palestinians between August 20-26, 2024. According to the report, Al-Aqsa Mosque was subjected to raids occurring most days during this period, coinciding with ongoing condemnations of an extremist far-right Israeli minister’s threat to construct a Jewish synagogue within the mosque’s courtyards.

During this week alone, the report details that Israeli occupation forces and settlers committed 1,936 crimes and violations. The violence led to the deaths of 306 Palestinians, including 296 in the Gaza Strip and ten in the West Bank, raising the total number of Palestinian martyrs since October 7, 2023, to 41,081.

In addition, the number of Palestinians injured in Gaza and the West Bank reached 922, while approximately 129 [Palestinians] were detained in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

st these actions, with 60 media and human rights organizations, including Reporters Without Borders, calling on the European Union to suspend its cooperation agreement with Israel and impose sanctions due to the continued killing of journalists in Gaza.

The situation in the West Bank and Jerusalem remains dire, with Israeli occupation forces demolishing ten homes in several areas, including Wadi al-Joz and the town of Anata in Jerusalem, as well as other locations in Bethlehem, Tulkarm, Ramallah, and Nablus. The report also documents the destruction of infrastructure, including roads, sports clubs, and commercial properties, and the confiscation of Palestinian property, such as bulldozers, tractors, and agricultural equipment.

Furthermore, the report outlines the aggressive settlement activities carried out by Israeli settlers, who have been seizing land and erecting outposts in various locations across the West Bank. Over the past week, settlers have raided Palestinian villages 39 times, burned and bulld
ozed agricultural lands, and attacked Palestinian vehicles.

The OIC’s weekly report underscores the ongoing and escalating nature of Israeli violations in the occupied territories, calling for greater international attention and action.
