Pezeshkian: UNESCO Recognition of Cyrus Cylinder Reflects Iran’s Enduring Role in Promoting Justice

Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has praised the recognition of the Cyrus Cylinder by the UN’s cultural agency, UNESCO, saying the move shows that Iran remains a source of dialogue, coexistence, and justice.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian president expressed on his X account that the recognition of the Cyrus Cylinder by UNESCO signifies Iran’s ongoing contribution to human civilization. He emphasized that Iran continues to be a source of dialogue, tolerance, justice, and coexistence.

Pezeshkian also highlighted that Islamic Iran can serve as an inspiration for peace and solidarity both regionally and globally. This statement follows UNESCO’s official recognition of the Cyrus Cylinder as a global symbol of freedom, justice, and respect for cultural diversity on Thursday.

The decision was made during the 43rd session of UNESCO’s General Conference, which is being held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from October 30 to November 13. The General Conference is UNESCO’s main governing body and involves 194 member states collaborating to set the organization’s vision and general policy.
