Speaking on Sunday at a meeting of the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Board, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi said that accurate knowledge of the country’s economic situation is necessary for economic decisions, and said, “Figures related to the country’s economic situation should be based on accurate and stable indicators, so it is necessary that the Plan and budget Organisation and the Central Bank prepare a ‘Recognition Report’ on the latest economic situation in the country so that decisions can be made based on it”.
“Economic decisions should not increase the country’s monetary base in any way,” he said.
Ayatollah Raisi described the reform of the budget structure as a necessary and important issue and said, “Reforming of the budget structure is one of the important priorities and programmes of the government and it is necessary to formulate a real and operational budget”.
The President said that the inconsistency in the inflation rate announced by the Central Bank and the Statistics Centre of Iran causes the violation of people’s rights and said, “The inflation rate is directly related to the people’s rights and any inconsistency in this regard causes the violation of people’s rights which should not be easily ignored”.
Emphasising that the duty of the Islamic state is to administer justice, Ayatollah Raisi stated, “Adapting salaries to inflation is a necessary matter and does not belong to one class only and should include all occupational groups”.
The president emphasised planning to reduce costs, increase revenues and financial discipline, saying, “Financial discipline is a feature of revolutionary work and all institutions need to put it on their agenda”.
Ayatollah Raisi emphasised the comprehensive efforts to lift the sanctions and said, “Simultaneously with these efforts, the government will use the necessary planning and measures to use internal resources and capacities, so that people do not face problems during economic shocks”.
