Pres. Raisi: Islam, Christianity share same truths, realities

Tehran, IRNA – President Ebrahim Raisi highlighted the many truth and realities Islam and Christianity share as two divine religions.

He made the remarks when calling on the family of an Armenian Christian soldier, Vartan Aghakhanian, who sacrificed his life for country during the Saddam-imposed war against Iran.

The visit took place Friday night on the occasion of Christmas eve which is celebrated by Christian Iranians living throughout the country.

During the meeting, he hailed the sublime status of martyrs especially those Armenians who sacrificed their lives for the country and said Iranians owed much to them for their security and independence.

The President also extended his congratulations to the Martyr’s family members as well as all followers of Christianity on the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ and stressed the hard core truth of the Christianity is not far from that of Islam as Muslims’ holy book Quran mentions the sublime characteristics of Mary (PBUH) and Jesus (PBUH) many times.

He said the message conveyed to enemies by martyrs including the Armenians is that the Iranian people are always ready to defend their homeland and sacrifice their lives if anyone invades their land and see no difference in this among Muslim or Christian or Zoroastrian compatriots.

Iran is the most valuable thing for all Iranians that is why they are willing to sacrifice their lives for the country regardless of their faiths.

Vartan Aghakhanian was martyred in 1985 at the age of 20 in the operational area of Majnoon Island, in southwest of country.
