Pres Raisi says 70% of people to be vaccinated in next few days

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi announced on Saturday that 70 percent of people in Iran will be vaccinated against the coronavirus within next few days.

President Raisi made the announcement at a ceremony held in south Tehran on beginning of the new school year in Iran.

All teachers have been vaccinated and public vaccination has accelerated, the president noted, adding that all who have communications with students have also been vaccinated.

He further stressed the importance of protecting lives of teachers and students through vaccination and social distancing.

The president urged officials at the Ministry of Education to move towards holding the classes in person while social distancing rules and health protocols are being followed.

President Raisi rang a bell on Saturday to symbolically start the new school year across the country.
