President Raisi felicitates Turkmenistan Independence Day

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has congratulated his Turkmen counterpart Serdar Berdimuhamedow over the Central Asian country’s Independence Day.

President Raisi expressed hope that the relationship of the two friendly neighboring countries of Turkmenistan and Iran will expand more than ever.

Given the fact that the two neighboring states, who are friend and brother, have taken valuable steps in line with expanding interactions, we hope the mutual ties will develop in accordance with welfare and comfort of the two nations day-by-day, Raisi noted in his message to his counterpart.

The Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic participated in the referendum held in March 1991 in an attempt to preserve the Soviet Union as a renewed federation called the Union of Sovereign States, a referendum in which 98.26% of voters approved.

Prior to the recent years, October 27 and 28 were celebrated in Turkmenistan as the National Day and the Independence Day, but

Berdimuhamedow, heading a high-ranking delegation visited Tehran for the first time as a president on June 14, 2022.
