A study by Press TV of voter inclinations has shown that Iranian presidential candidate Nasser Hemmati’s negative vote rate has seen the highest increase in Iranian provincial capitals before and after the three presidential debates.

The study showed that Hemmati’s negative vote rate in provincial capitals stood at an approximate 6% before the first presidential debate on June 5 but jumped to 27 % in polling conducted on Sunday (June 13), a day after the third and final debate in Iran’s June 18 presidential election.

The negative vote rates in provincial capitals for all other candidates are as follow: Mohsen Rezaei 7.6%; Mohsen Mehr-Alizadeh 6.8%; Ebrahim Raeisi 6.3%; Sa’eed Jalili 3.2%; Alireza Zakani 2.9%; and Amir-Hossein Ghazizadeh-Hashemi 0.8%.

On the national scale, Hemmati’s negative vote rate stood at 14% before the debates but is expected to rise to at least 34%.

The study also revealed that voter turnout in provincial capitals was 47%, and that Raeisi continued to enjoy the highest support in those localities, at 58.4%, among individuals who said they would certainly participate in the election.

Among such individuals, Rezaei was second with 5.4%, and Hemmati was third with 3.1%.

Voter support for the other candidates was as follows: Ghazizadeh-Hashemi 2.6%; Jalili 2.5%; Zakani 2.1%; and Mehr-Alizadeh 0.6%.

Some 16.7% of the respondents were still undecided about who to vote for.

Also, voter support among individuals who said they would possibly vote was as follows: Raeisi 50.1%; Rezaei 6.7%; Hemmati 4.3%; Ghazizadeh-Hashemi 3.3%; Jalili 2.9%; Zakani 2.7%; and Mohsen Mehr-Alizadeh 0.9%.

And 18.8% of potential voters were still undecided.

In carrying out the study, Press TV used data from polling stations whose records had proven them to be credible. Press TV assessed the record of the polling stations by comparing their predictions in past elections with the actual results in each case.

Iran is holding its 13th presidential election on June 18. The first presidential debate was held on June 5, and the second debate on June 8. A third debate was being held on Saturday (June 12).
