Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Majlis (Parliament) speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf on Monday stressed the need for enhancement of parliamentary relations with Russia.
Qalibaf made the remarks in a phone conversation with Vyacheslav Volodin to congratulate him on his reelection as the chairman of the Russian State Duma.
He said that the Iranian Parliament welcomes holding sessions of a joint economic commission and a joint supreme parliamentary commission which he said would help maintain and continue economic and trade cooperation.
The Russian side, for his part, underlined the need for expansion of parliamentary relations between the two countries in all areas.
Noting that relations between Iran and Russia are based on mutual respect, Volodin said that the Russian Duma seeks to help boost relations with Tehran and implement the already signed agreements.
