Sardar Azmoun efficient, clinical finisher: Bayer Leverkusen coach

Tehran, IRNA – Gerardo Seoane, Swiss head coach of Germany’s Bayer Leverkusen club, has praised Iranian Striker Sardar Azmoun for his powerful appearance.

Seoane lauded Azmoun’s capability in scoring goals in football matches, saying that the 27-year-old Iranian striker can shine in contests.

Iranian professional footballer plays as a forward for Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen and the Iran national team. Azmoun made his debut for the Iran national team in 2014 aged 19. He has played for Russia’s Zenit Saint Petersburg since 2018, but he has been transferred to Bundesliga this winter.

Azmoun lost five matches because of injuries, but he succeeded in playing in recent match between Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich merely for a few minutes, when he was monitored by Gerardo Seoane.

The Iranian striker could not change the course and prevent from his club’s defeat in the match, because he played only in final five minutes.

However, Seoane told Kicker Sports Magazine, “We haven’t seen the real Sardar here yet.”

The Swiss head coach of Germany’s Bayer Leverkusen club said, “He (Sardar) doesn’t take many touches on the ball, but is very productive and a clinical finisher. He’s different from our other strikers.”

“He’s good at running in behind. He’s not a player, who will impress you with his dribbling or do a back-heel, but he’s very efficient,” the head coach added.

The Iranian football player has scored 62 goals in 104 appearances for Russian Zenit Saint Petersburg.
