Saudi Arabia Affirms its Support for Agricultural and Food Security Strategies Development Locally and Internationally


Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia confirmed its interest in agricultural development and food security issues and its efforts to develop food security strategies and ensure the sustainability of the agricultural sector at local, regional, and international levels.

This commitment was reiterated during the Kingdom’s participation in an extraordinary virtual meeting of the Committee of Agricultural and Food Security Undersecretaries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The meeting was chaired by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture for Agriculture, Eng. Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Eyada.

Eng. Al-Eyada highlighted the Kingdom’s focus on achieving agricultural and food sustainability and outlined the key directions for achieving the goals of the food security strategy.

The meeting was presided over by the Assistant Secretary for Economic and Development Affairs of the Council’s General Secretariat, Khaled Ali Al-Sunaidi, who reviewed the efforts to prepare the food security stra
tegy for the GCC countries. The technical team responsible for its preparation presented the strategy headed by Saudi Arabia.
