Saudi Arabia Marks World Maritime Day

Saudi Arabia celebrated World Maritime Day, recognizing the vital role of the maritime sector in supporting commercial, industrial, and economic activities, as well as ensuring food security. The celebration featured various events, including exhibitions across the Kingdom. It also highlighted the Saudi naval fleet’s contribution to facilitating international maritime traffic.

This year’s World Maritime Day theme, “Navigating the future: safety first!”, emphasized the importance of safety standards in marine navigation. As a member state of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and a signatory to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), Saudi Arabia plays a crucial role in establishing global safety standards for maritime operations. With its strategic location, Saudi Arabia is a key logistics hub and a gateway for trade between Asia, Africa, and Europe. Approximately 13% of global trade passes through its corridors, aligning with the Kingdom’s ambitious Vision 2030 and str
ategic targets.
