Saudi Arabia Participates in International Conference on Care Economy and Social Protection in Morocco


Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the International Conference on the Care Economy and Social Protection, themed “A Pillar for Women’s Empowerment, Job Creation Opportunities, and Well-Being and Family Resilience,” held from June 25 to 26, 2024, at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Rabat, Morocco. Organized by the Ministry of Solidarity and Social Inclusion and Family in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Arab League, the conference aimed to foster an integrated system for the care economy through the exchange of Arab and international experiences and knowledge.

Leading the Kingdom’s delegation was Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council Dr. Maimoonah Al Khalil accompanied by experts from relevant authorities. The conference focused on identifying economic activities within the care sector and their role in generating employment opportunities, particularly for women. During the ministerial round table meeting, Dr. Al Khalil delivered the Kingdom’s address, hi
ghlighting how the care economy contributes to individual well-being, family cohesion, and community integration.

Dr. Al Khalil emphasized the Kingdom’s commitment to gender equality in job opportunities within the care economy, emphasizing the creation of new roles to enhance social cohesion and the provision of essential services such as healthcare, education, and elderly care. She underscored that these efforts align with Saudi Vision 2030, demonstrating the Kingdom’s dedication to advancing the care economy across various sectors.
