Saudi Arabia Showcases Leading Water Management Expertise at AIWW in China

The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) is participating in the third Asia International Water Week (AIWW), taking place September 24 to 28 in Beijing, China, to showcase the Kingdom’s pioneering role in managing water resources.

SWA President Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim leads the Saudi water system delegation attending this triennial water gathering. Saudi Arabia’s aim through its engagement is to bolster efforts and collaboration in the water sector, exchange best practices, and share experiences in water resource management.

The Saudi delegation comprises representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the SWA, the National Water Company (NWC), the Water Transmission and Technologies Company, Water Desalination (SWCC), and the Saudi Irrigation Organization.

At the AIWW, SWA intends to back efforts to elevate water-related issues to the forefront of the global agenda, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s role in addressing water challenges and its dedication to environmental sustaina
bility and the advancement of the global water sector.

A significant stride in the water sector by the Kingdom includes last year’s announcement by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, regarding the establishment of a global water organization in Riyadh. The initiative is geared towards harmonizing efforts among nations and organizations to effectively tackle water challenges.

Drawing from decades of pioneering global experience in water production, transportation, distribution, and innovation of technological solutions, Saudi Arabia has emerged as the world’s largest producer of desalinated water.

Through various sessions, workshops, and a dedicated pavilion at the 3rd AIWW, the Saudi delegation will showcase the Kingdom’s pioneering role in water resource management and cutting-edge technologies. The objective is to inspire the adoption of novel methodologies to enhance water sector efficiency and foster stron
ger bilateral relationships and partnerships in this realm.

Furthermore, the SWA is keen on empowering the private sector in developing water projects and attracting investments, in line with the sustainable development goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Parallel to the main event, the SWA will engage in discussions to fortify strategic partnerships and promote innovation in the water sector through meetings with specialized Chinese firms in artificial-intelligence (AI) applications and water services management solutions.
