Saudi Arabia, US Discuss Enhancing Partnership in ORAN to Develop Digital Infrastructure

In collaboration with the commercial attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia and American companies, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology held a workshop to discuss success stories in the implementation of Open Radio Access Network (ORAN) technologies.

The assistant deputy minister for infrastructure development at the Ministry of Telecommunications, Nasser Albakr, and U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Michael Ratney attended the workshop.

The effort aims to enhance the strategic partnership between both countries in communications and technology to develop a flexible and sustainable digital infrastructure. The infrastructure would contribute to achieving digital transformation and enhance the growth of the digital economy in line with the Saudi Vision 2030.

The workshop discussed the maturity of this technology, the promotion of the shared concept of its potential and opportunities, and success stories in its application. It also shed light on ways to drive such innovations in th
e communications sector.

Leading global companies in the ORAN field, such as Airspan, Qualcomm, Mavenir, HP, NVIDIA, Intel, and DISH/Echostar, along with more than 10 local entities and companies, participated in the workshop.
