Geneva: Saudi Arabia won prizes at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20), organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva, Switzerland, for the excellence of its innovations, competing against over 193 countries.
The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) received a prize in the “Role of Governments and All Stakeholders in the Promotion of ICTs for Development” category for its National Data Bank (NDB) and Estishraf project. This project aims to enhance the quality of the Kingdom’s data, promote its international participation, and contribute to building a data-based digital economy through specialized platforms. Additionally, the Kingdom received three excellence certificates. The first was for the “AI Principles Project” by SDAIA, which focuses on elevating ethics and ensuring their implementation throughout the AI lifecycle. The second was for the “Elevate” project, also by SDAIA, which is the first of its kind to empower women and train them in the data and AI fields.
Since the project’s launch, over 1,000 women from 28 countries have been trained. The third was for the “SmartTruck” project, represented by the Saudi Telecom Company (stc) in partnership with Huawei, which aims to bridge the digital divide for seniors by offering digital skills training programs.
These achievements reflect the Kingdom’s development in ICT infrastructure, the enablement of national capabilities, and its alignment with international advancements in various sectors such as government services, healthcare, education, and entertainment, with the unlimited support of the Kingdom’s leadership.
