Saudi Geological Survey Launches 27th Issue of ‘Ardhona’ Journal

The Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) issued a press release today announcing the launch of the 27th edition of its scientific publication, “Ardhona: Geology and Mining”.

SGS spokesperson Tariq Abaalkhail said: “The journal serves as a premier resource for SGS and a vital advisory body to the government in the realm of earth sciences. This publication harmonizes its geological and mining content with the National Minerals Program and the latest global research in earth sciences.”

He added: “The annual release of ‘Ardhona: Geology and Mining’ aims to disseminate the government’s unwavering commitment to excellence in scientific research and sustainability within the geology and mining sectors.”

Abaalkhail said that the journal endeavors to foster growth in technical outputs, disseminate knowledge, and provide comprehensive updates on SGS’s ongoing projects, initiatives, and endeavors.

According to Abaalkhail, the latest edition of the journal is the result of the work of ‘a distinguished array of global scient
ists, experts, governmental officials, academics, and specialists who have contributed invaluable scientific insights’.

Saudi and foreign women contributed to it, which is ‘a significant milestone in the Ardhona series’, he said.

The publication has made use of the expertise of institutions and academies specializing in earth sciences and mining.

“Ardhona is a trusted scientific outlet for earth sciences and mining enthusiasts, presented in both Arabic and English. It delivers a blend of written content, visual diversity, and top-tier, peer-reviewed research articles, propelling forward research and scientific studies while engaging the interests of the emerging generation,” said the release.

According to SGS, the journal is at the forefront of industry developments, exploring topics such as mining in salt domes, geology’s role in sustaining Zamzam water, and the JORC system of classifying mineral resources and reserves in the Kingdom.

‘It delves into environmental assessments of cutting-edge projects an
d geology in Madinah and NEOM, and offers a spectrum of recent scientific outputs and insights from national specialized committees, aligning with global and local trends and diverse mineral projects,’ the release stated.
