The Roads General Authority confirmed that the Saudi Railways (SAR) transported over 13 million tons of goods using its land freight trains during the first half of 2024, removing more than one million truck journeys from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s roads.
This achievement highlights the significant level of integration among all entities within the transport and logistics system. It also reflects the remarkable progress made in achieving the goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to solidify the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub and enhance the safety and quality of the road network.
The authority is responsible for regulating and overseeing the road sector by setting necessary policies and standards. It also strives to achieve the sector’s strategic objectives, which focus on safety, quality, and traffic density.
