Saudi Scouts Check on Space Sciences, Technologies at NASA


Riyadh: The Saudi scout delegation, participating in the 3rd International Muslim Scout Jamboree, checked on space sciences and technologies, the history of the first space ascent, and subsequent space missions.

During their visit yesterday to the Space Center in Houston, part of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the delegation learned about the special suits of astronauts, the items they carry, the physics of zero gravity and weightlessness, practising buoyancy, communication skills in orbit, recognizing the side effects during space missions, and devices for monitoring astronauts’ health conditions, including measuring heartbeats, blood pressure, respiration, and other body functions, as well as ways to maintain personal hygiene for astronauts and their sleeping methods.

The Saudi Arabian Scouts Association participated in the 3rd World Islamic Scout Jamboree, which was held at Camp Strake in Houston, Texas, USA, from June 30 to July 6. The event was organized by the National Assoc
iation of Muslim Americans on Scouting under the supervision of the Boy Scouts of America.
