Riyadh: Quality of Life Program chief executive Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Baker emphasized the importance of addressing drug abuse as a significant obstacle that affects the well-being of individuals and families. He praised the collaborative efforts of the government and the community in tackling this threat, which particularly impacts young people globally.

In a statement marking International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26 each year, he highlighted the commitment of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to combatting drug abuse. One of the program’s goals focuses on enhancing the community’s resilience against drugs. To achieve this, several initiatives are being implemented to prevent drug abuse, provide support and treatment for addicts, and raise awareness about the dangers of addiction. These initiatives involve the Ministry of Interior, the National Committee for Narcotics Control, and other relevant authorities.

Al-Baker underscored the role of various sectors within the Quality of L
ife Program in preventing drug abuse. By promoting the growth of sports, culture, entertainment, hobbies, and other sectors, and providing diverse opportunities for young people, creating jobs, and offering economic and social prospects, positive lifestyles are encouraged to shield individuals from the destructive impact of drug abuse.

He further highlighted that the National Youth Strategy, which the program is working on, includes elements that cater to the well-being of young people across various domains to improve their quality of life and fulfill their aspirations within the framework of the goals outlined in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. This approach aims to combat drug abuse with a strategic vision that will have a lasting impact on future generations.
