SDAIA, KSGAAL Launch ‘Balsam’ Index to Evaluate Arabic AI Models

The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) and the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) have launched the ‘Balsam’ Index to evaluate and measure Arabic large language models (LLM).

The launch took place today during the 3rd Global AI Summit (GAIN Summit) in Riyadh. The new index is part of SDAIA’s and its strategic partners’ efforts to develop advanced Arabic LLMs, a rapidly evolving field. The index will help assess the latest models being developed to add new features and capabilities.

KSGAAL spearheaded the framework for measuring the maturity level of these Arabic LLMs. SDAIA, in collaboration with KSGAAL, played a key role in creating a data and AI glossary. This glossary compiles the most important technical terms related to data and AI in both Arabic and English, with the aim of enhancing knowledge about AI technologies on a global scale.

SDAIA has launched initiatives and projects to foster the data and AI ecosystem, including the establishment of non-profit entities and the in
troduction of supporting programs.
