SDAIA Wraps up Two Training Programs in US, UK for Saudi Winners in Open Data Datathon

The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has concluded two training programs held in the United States and the United Kingdom for the first- and second-place winners among the Saudi participants in the Open Data Datathon event, which the authority recently organized in Riyadh.

This initiative aims to enhance participants’ knowledge in data and artificial intelligence and equip them with advanced skills from some of the world’s leading universities.

The winning team, Traffix AI, participated in the Hero Training Program at Draper University in the United States as part of the Open Data Datathon event. The team was trained on developing essential skills and creative ideas for launching successful business ventures. Their participation stemmed from their winning project, which aims to predict vehicle accident damages and error rates using features such as images and damage location. This project helps in determining liability in traffic accidents and reducing traffic congestion.

The sec
ond-place team, Team 2030, participated in the Data Science for Competitive Advantage program at London Business School in the UK. The team explored ways to develop and advance their projects in data and AI, as well as understanding the challenges facing such projects and discovering modern data science methods to address these challenges. Their winning project focused on developing a system that uses a dataset of driver images to identify early signs of fatigue by analyzing subtle signals such as eye closure. This system provides immediate responses to drowsy driving and can automatically alert emergency services, ensuring the safety of both the driver and others on the road.
