SDRPY Launches Water Security Enhancement Project Using Renewable Energy in Aden

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has launched a project to enhance water security using renewable energy in Aden Governorate.

The project will directly benefit at least 800,000 Yemenis living in various districts of Aden, and indirectly benefit around 1.5 million Yemenis in Aden.

The project is a joint endeavor of SDRPY and the Selah Foundation for Development.

The project will sustainably increase the amount of potable water pumped by utilizing renewable energy. It will enhance the efficiency of water resource management in the field, train workers in the maintenance and use of solar energy, and improve the capacity of Aden’s water authority, to meet the essential water needs of its subscribers. The scheme will also support key sectors in providing essential services in Aden.

The project is bound to improve the efficiency of water infrastructure fields, reduce operational costs, lower carbon emissions, and create job opportunities.

SDRPY has implemented sustainable
development projects and initiatives in various key sectors such as education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture and fisheries, capacity building for the Yemeni government, and development programs across Yemen.
