Shrimp Fishing Season Opens Tomorrow in Jazan


The shrimp fishing season in the Red Sea’s Jazan region begins tomorrow and will run for seven months, concluding at the end of March 2025.

Director General of the Fisheries Research Center in Jazan Eng. Muhannad bin Abdulaziz Khawaji said that the center is fully prepared to support local fishermen, including by facilitating the issuance of fishing licenses.

Khawaji emphasized that designated a shrimp fishing season is crucial to ensuring sustainability and maintaining the availability of shrimp. It aims to support food security by providing high-nutritional-value marine products, in line with the Kingdom’s vision.

He urged fishermen to comply with all regulations and use sustainable fishing practices to protect shrimp stocks.
