Southeastern Iranian province exports $1.5m worth of handicrafts

– Southeastern province of Kerman has exported 1.5 million-dollar worth of handicrafts during the past Iranian year (ended March 20, 2021), a provincial official announced.

Fereydoun Fa’alli, director general of cultural heritage, handicrafts and tourism office in Kerman, said on Sunday that precious and semi-precious stones were among the exports.

Some handicrafts in the province are unknown and need to be introduced to the world through branding them and launching promotional campaigns, Fa’alli said.

At present, 70,000 artists – men and women- are active in 100 branches of crafts in the province, the official added.

Significant handicrafts of Iran have deep roots in the rich culture and old history of the country which lends them a wide range of variety.
