Tehran, IRNA – Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad in a meeting with the Iranian parliamentary delegation on Thursday evening thanked Tehran for its support for Damascus in all political, military and economic fields.
According to a report from Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the Iranian delegation was headed by the Vice President of the Iran-Syria parliamentary friendship group Abbas Golroo,.
During the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy to defend the interests of both Iranian and Syrian people.
The discussion focused on formulating the necessary foundations to strengthen bilateral economic capabilities and relations to counter the economic terrorism imposed on Iran and Syria.
Mekdad further addressed Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and praised Iran’s leadership and his ability to defend the interests and rights of the Iranian people.
He stressed that Syria supports Iran in the nuclear talks.
The head of the Iranian delegation also said that Iran is proud of its relations with Syria throughout history, adding that Damascus has always been with Tehran.
Golroo said that the good relations between the two countries should improve the level of economic and cultural relations.
Faisal Mekdad and Golroo also discussed the situation in the region, especially the occupied Palestinian and stressed the importance of Palestinian resistance for liberating this land and the formation of an independent government.
