TGA Checks on Readiness of Al-Mashaer Train, Haramain High Speed Railway, Automated People Mover at King Abdulaziz International Airport


Jeddah: The Transport General Authority (TGA) has conducted inspections to assess the readiness of the Al-Mashaer Train, Haramain High-Speed Railway, and automated people mover at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, in preparation for the upcoming Hajj season. The supervision and monitoring efforts included field visits to Al-Mashaer Train stations, which consist of nine stations distributed across the holy sites, connected by a double-track railway spanning 18 kilometers. The Al-Mashaer Train has a capacity of 72,000 passengers per hour in one direction, facilitating more than 2,000 trips to ease the movement of pilgrims.

The field visits also evaluated the readiness of the Haramain High-Speed Railway in Jeddah, which comprises five stations and 35 trains. During the Hajj season, the railway will conduct more than 3,800 trips, providing a comfortable and convenient travel experience.

Furthermore, the authority assessed the readiness of the automated people mover at King Abdulaziz International
Airport, which assists in transporting passengers and pilgrims within the new terminal (Terminal 1) from the check-in area to the international departure lounges and vice versa. The automated people mover boasts a track length of 750 meters and a capacity of 4,000 passengers per hour in one direction. It is equipped with the latest systems and technologies to ensure high-quality services for pilgrims and passengers.

TGA continues its efforts to ensure the efficiency and readiness of all transport services provided to pilgrims, ensuring their safety and comfort during the Hajj season.
