hmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, called for an immediate halt to military operations in Gaza, recalling what he had previously warned repeatedly, that Israel’s continued implementation of violent and extremist policies is a time bomb that deprives the region of any serious opportunities for stability.
The official spokesman for the Secretary-General said in a statement: The cycle of armed confrontation between the two sides is taking the region away from any real opportunities to achieve stability or peace in the near future.
He added, “The Secretary-General is fully convinced of the international community’s responsibility for the current situation in the absence of any real reaction to the provocative Israeli right-wing policies against Islamic sanctities and against the two-state solution, which are trying to abort the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders.”
