The Council of Ministers issues a new package of decisions at the end of its session today


Baghdad: The Council of Ministers, headed by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, issued a new package of decisions today, Monday.

The Prime Minister’s media office said in a statement: “Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani chaired the twenty-fourth regular session of the Council of Ministers, which included discussing the general conditions in the country, and discussing a number of files related to implementing government programs and plans, in addition to discussing the topics included on the agenda, and taking the necessary decisions regarding them.”

He added that “the Prime Minister recalled at the beginning of the session the painful memory of the attack of the terrorist ISIS gangs and their control over the city of Mosul in 2014, stressing that the plan that was thwarted by the Iraqi people and its armed forces, in all its branches, was what was planned for the deviant gang to prevail in the region, but the determination of our people,” supported by “the blessed fatwa of the supreme authority re
presented by Sayyid Ali al-Sistani (may his shadow be extended), and the solidarity of all Iraqi forces, repelled the attack of evil and liberated the land, with great sacrifices.”

Al-Sudani added that “the great victory achieved over the dark ISIS gangs should push us to work more and proceed with creating an urban development renaissance,” recalling “the sacrifices of the martyrs, from our armed forces, in all its branches, and from innocent civilians and missing persons, asking God Almighty to heal the wounded of that honorable battle.”

The statement explained that “the Council of Ministers continued to consider the topics on its agenda, and voted to increase the retirement salary for insured workers by an amount not exceeding 150,000 dinars per month, according to the following equation:

The amount of the increase = ((700,000 – actual salary)\(700,000 – minimum salary)) x 150,000, for those whose retirement salary does not exceed 700,000 dinars, and includes the retiree (service and disability), and di
viding the amount of the increase due according to the equation, among the heirs entitled to each retirement transaction, based on the provisions of Article (44) of the Retirement and Social Security Law for Workers No. 18 of 2023.” He pointed out that “the Council approved the recommendation of the Supreme Coordination Authority between the Governorates (7 of 2024), which includes allocating contract grades according to the Ministry of Culture’s letter in this regard, to work in guarding archaeological sites and exclusively from the people of those governorates, as follows: Baghdad 100 grades, Babylon 150 grades, Dhi Qar 150 grades, Maysan 75 grades, Diwaniyah 75 grades, Anbar 50 grades, Wasit 75 grades, Najaf 75 grades, Karbala 75 grades, Salah al-Din 75 grades, Nineveh 250 grades, Muthanna 100 grades, Diyala 75 grades, Basra 100 grades, and Kirkuk 100 grades.”

The office indicated that “in the context of the continuation of government support for the Palestinian people in Gaza, the Council approved the ex
emption of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society from the budget implementation instructions for the year (2023-2024-2025), in order to purchase materials and goods within the aid and relief materials sent to our people in the Gaza Strip.”

He indicated that “the Council of Ministers reviewed Iraq’s relations with sisterly and friendly countries, within the activities of international organizations and institutions, especially with regard to Iraq’s image, reputation and economic status, and the Prime Minister directed that the levels of Iraq’s participation in international conferences and activities be in accordance with the reciprocity with the host countries participating in the activities hosted by Iraq.
