Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, met today, Sunday, the Director of Security of United Nations Operations around the world and the official in charge of security systems for UNESCO, and the Director of the Program for the Development of Ministries of Interior across the world and the United Nations, Nicholas Hergott.
The Ministry stated in a statement, “At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister welcomed his guest and discussed with him a number of topics of common interest, most notably coordination and joint cooperation.”
Hergott expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Minister for his great interest in journalists and media professionals.
For his part, the Minister pointed out the importance of media and freedom of opinion in Iraq, indicating that the Iraqi government and the Ministry of Interior continue to protect freedom of opinion and expression and provide a safe and appropriate atmosphere for all workers in the field of journalism and media, and they also continue to invest optimally in the media in awareness and education campaigns regarding combating Drugs and psychotropic substances, and how the media can be professional in this direction.”
