The Minister of Justice discusses with his Syrian counterpart, by phone, bilateral relations

Minister of Justice, Khaled Shawani, discussed with his Syrian counterpart, Ahmed Al-Sayed, by phone, bilateral relations and ways to enhance them.

During the call, the Minister affirmed Iraq’s keenness on interdependence and cohesion between the two countries, and coordination and cooperation in the judicial and legal fields.

The two Ministers discussed the file of the next meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice.

Shawani called on the Syrian Minister of Justice to visit Iraq and pursue prospects for cooperation in various fields, according to the government’s program headed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani.

The two sides also discussed the mechanisms of implementing the Cabinet’s decision to contract with doctors and health cadres to supplement the correctional department in order to improve the health situation and provide the necessary care for inmates in prison departments.

For his part, Syrian Minister of Justice Ahmed Al-Sayed affirmed that Al-Sudani’s visit received great interest from the government and the Syrian people, and that his Ministry is ready to cooperate in the legal and justice fields and memorandums of understanding in the interest of the two brotherly peoples.
