The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, affirmed Iraq’s consistent approach to preserving and promoting human rights equally for all citizens in order to achieve social justice, noting the keenness to implement international conventions and laws related to rights and freedoms in the country.

He pointed out, according to a presidential statement, the importance of exchanging experiences and cooperation between the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions and the High Commission for Human Rights in Iraq, and communicating with international organizations to enhance the spread of awareness and education on human rights, training in receiving and following up on complaints, visiting places of detention, monitoring and reporting violations, and interaction with international human rights mechanisms.
The President of the Republic welcomed Baghdad’s hosting of the network’s annual conference next October, stressing the support of the Presidency for its convening and success in order to achieve its goals and decisions that serve humanitarian issues.
For his part, Sultan bin Hassan Al-Jamali expressed his happiness at the visit and learning about the work of the High Commission for Human Rights and civil society organizations working in Iraq, expressing his hope
to enhance joint cooperation. He also reviewed the work of the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions.
