The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the importance of the oversight and legislative role of the House of Representatives.
A presidential statement stated that the President of the Republic received, today, Monday, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, and members of Parliament Hussein Al-Azergawi, Muhammad Al-Douri, Hassan Al-Khafaji, Ali Al-Saadi and Haitham Al-Fahd.
According to the statement, during the meeting, the general situation and political and security developments in the country were discussed, and the need to expedite the approval of the budget was emphasized because of its direct impact on people’s lives and livelihoods, and in a way that contributes to the implementation of the government program and meeting the requirements of citizens.
The President of the Republic pointed out the importance of the oversight and legislative role of the House of Representatives in monitoring the performance of state institutions, and also touched on Iraq’s participation in the United Nations Water Conference that was held in New York recently, and the support of the heads and leaders of Iraq’s countries in facing the dangers of the water crisis and climate change.
