The President of the Republic: The Iraqi decision is an independent decision that we are studying in the government and parliament

Baghdad, The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, confirmed that the Iraqi decision is an independent decision that we are studying in the government and Parliament, and we do not take orders from any country.

Rashid said in an interview on Sky News Arabia on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Summit (COP28) held in the UAE: Technological developments in the world have affected climate change and serious work must be done through international cooperation and coordination to address it.

He added: The situation in Iraq now is good in all respects, and we have an intensive program to establish security and stability and meet the demands of the Iraqi people by providing services and improving infrastructure.

He pointed out that “Iraq’s relations now with neighboring countries, the region and the world are good and strong, and we are working to strengthen them, and there are delegations that visit Iraq continuously from all countries.

He stressed, “The climate, internal water management, and our relations with neighboring countries govern the water resources in Iraq, and we have serious steps to address the water challenge, and we have begun to revive the marshes, which affect not only Iraq but the entire region, and the drying of the marshes by the previous regime for military, not environmental, reasons.” It had a negative impact on the environment of Iraq.

He added: We worked to solve most of our problems with all neighboring countries, and Iraq is exercising a negotiating role between parties in the region for the sake of common interests.

Rashid affirmed: Our position has been consistent regarding the Palestinian issue from the beginning, and with the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state. We condemn the criminal aggression against the Gaza Strip, and demand an end to the fighting, and our hope is that the Palestinian people will obtain their full legitimate rights.
