The Suez Canal Economy receives the Belgian ambassador in Cairo


Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone received Ambassador of Belgium to Cairo, within the framework of supporting and strengthening joint cooperation, especially in light of the promotional efforts of the economic zone at the current stage, which target a number of destinations from Including the European continent, to introduce investment opportunities and attract more foreign investments in the targeted sectors.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din gave a presentation on the Suez Canal Economic Zone, addressing the most prominent competitive advantages that the Authority possesses, especially the six ports on the Mediterranean and Red Seas.

He explained the efforts made by the Authority to develop its ports and bring its services to international levels, pointing to the efforts to localize The green fuel industry is carried out in the economic zone in cooperation with major international partners from various parts of the world to maxi
mize the benefit of the economic zone’s resources and contribute to the shift towards green fuel globally.

not only through manufacturing it, but also through supplying ships with it and exporting it to various global markets, explaining that The Economic Zone succeeded in exporting the first shipment of green ammonia produced in the Sokhna Integrated Zone of the Authority.

He also indicated the Authority’s intention to conduct a promotional tour to Belgium to review the investment opportunities available in the sectors targeted for localization in the Authority, which include various fields, most notably green fuel projects and the industries feeding it.

For his part, the Belgian ambassador expressed his happiness at visiting the economic zone, stressing the need to support cooperation between the ports of the economic zone and the Belgian port of Antwerp, stressing that the economic zone enjoys many serious investments and has a promising future, and capabilities that make it establish a new phase of coo
peration and create good opportunities during the next phase.

Expressing his hope that this meeting will play an important role in opening new horizons for investment and cooperation between the two sides, he also invited the economic zone to participate in an exhibition of Belgian companies organized by the embassy in the next stage.

It should be noted that the Suez Canal Economic Zone has carried out a number of successful promotional tours during the past period with the aim of promoting the sectors targeted by the localization of the industry within the Authority, most notably the active ingredient for medicines, green fuel and its complementary industries, the automobile industry and others.

Among the results of these tours was the attraction of many projects. The Authority has projects in ports and others in industrial areas.
