The Zionist entity deprives 600,000 male and female students in Gaza from joining the new school year

The Palestinian Ministry of Education confirmed, today, Monday, that the Zionist entity has deprived more than 600,000 male and female students in the Gaza Strip from continuing their education for the second year in a row, amid the continuation of its bloody war in the Strip since October 7.

The Ministry stated in a press statement on the occasion of the start of the school year in the schools of the West Bank and occupied Al-Quds, excluding the Gaza Strip, that the ongoing Zionist entity’s aggression on the Strip led to the martyrdom of 10,000 students and the injury of 15,000 others, while 19,000 students left the Strip by force.

It added: “The occupation deprived 39,000 students last year of high school exams, while “it confiscated the joy of 58,000 children by joining the first grade of the educational process.”

It explained that 400 male and female school teachers were martyred and that 90 percent of the 307 government school buildings were destroyed.

It explained that “with a full year approaching
since the start of the aggression on Gaza, the scenes of killing and destruction are still before our eyes, and before more than 600 thousand students who have been deprived of continuing their right to a free and safe education.”

It pointed out that the situation in the Gaza Strip “is no different” from the reality of education in Al-Quds, which is still under the pressure of the policies of imposing the occupation’s identity and Judaization.

It stated that “despite the widening scope of targeting, the Ministry is moving with all hope towards protecting education and providing all opportunities for children in the Gaza Strip, as the Ministry is working on launching virtual schools and opening schools in the West Bank for students from Gaza.”

‘Determination leads us to provide as much education as possible, even if it is inside dilapidated tents, as the right to education is an approach and practice, not a luxury, theory, or slogans,’ she said, explaining that the construction process will continue, and we
will build schools, and in partnership with bodies and institutions we will pass this difficult stage, with the determination of our loyal teachers, whom we trust and are proud of their presence and their belonging to the sacred message of knowledge, and with the support of parents and the commitment of students.
