Timeless Pursuit: Fishing in Haql Governorate

Fishing, a pastime as old as humanity itself, continues to appeal to residents of Haql governorate, in Tabuk region.

While it was once primarily a means of sustenance, today, many young people embrace fishing for its recreational value. The activity offers a serene escape and fosters patience and anticipation.

Haql’s coastal areas, especially during cooler weather, draw numerous fishing enthusiasts equipped with their trusty hooks. Mastering the art of fishing requires careful consideration of factors such as hook selection, line size, bait placement, timing, and location.

Abdullah Abu Al-Ezz, a passionate angler, told a Saudi Press Agency reporter: “We frequent the seafronts to try our hand at fishing with rods. It is a simple yet challenging method that requires selecting the right fishing spots. While we sometimes return with a bountiful catch, other times we may be unsuccessful.”

Haql’s ideal environmental conditions have created a thriving fishery industry, ensuring a robust supply of popular commerc
ial fish species.
