Tukey’s ruling party decries Quran burning in Denmark

Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party condemned on Saturday burning a copy of the holy book the Quran in Copenhagen under the police watchful eyes.

The party spokesperson, Omer Celik, said in a tweet, “We strongly denounce the attack carried out by a group of people hostile to Islam in Denmark against our holy book the Quran.” This is an explicit hatred crime, he said, also decrying silence of the Danish authorities toward such provocative actions against Islam and the Muslims, noting that such a passive stance is tantamount to tacit suppor for these hatred crimes.

Hardliners on Friday set a copy of the Quran in front of the Iraqi embassy in Copenhagen.

The same group had perpetrated the same blatant act outside the Turkish embassy office in Copenhagen.
