Tehran, IRNA – United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen appreciated Islamic Republic of Iran for its efforts to establish peace and tranquility in Syria.
Pedersen made the appreciation during his telephone conversation with Ali Asghar Khaji, senior advisor to the Iranian foreign minister.
Pedersen also gave some explanations about his recent visit to Damascus and agreements reached there.
For his part, Khaji said Iran welcomes the continuation of dialogue within the framework of political process and the seventh session of the Syrian constitutional committee.
The two officials further reviewed the latest developments in Syria and stressed the need to solve this humanitarian issue through return of refugees and the displaced.
