UN, Swedish envoys visit women employment plans in Iran’s Borujerd

Borujerd, IRNA – A representative of the United Nations and Sweden’s ambassador to Tehran have visited employment projects in Borujerd, Lorestan province, in western Iran.

Claudio Providas, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Iran, and Mattias Lentz, Swedish Ambassador to Tehran, traveled to Borujerd on Monday to inspect employment projects for women in rural areas.

The two foreign officials visited various villages of Chaharbareh, Nezamabad and Fyal near Borujerd city.

They inspected sewing workshops as well as pickle, dried fruits and jam production lines, and bakeries run by rural women. The United Nations supported establishment of these workshops and business units.

The United Nations Development Programme has helped rural women to set up businesses, providing them with some equipment.

On Sunday, Lentz and Providas held talks with governors of cities such as Borujerd, Azna and Aligudarz as well as other provincial officials in Lorestan to discuss ways to implement development projects in the province.
